Week of January 5th
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season! We had lots of family in town and stayed busy but were also able to find some time to just relax! Below is practice information for this week and announcements.
Announcements
We will begin official winter track practice beginning on January 12th. However, I’m planning to be at the track by 3:15pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday of this week to meet with our distance running crew!
You can sign up for winter track by following the link on the Legend Track website.
Pre-Season Goal Setting
This pre-season, Coach Acosta and Coach Hines will be offering short 15–20 minute individual goal-setting meetings for committed athletes motivated to push their limits during Track this spring.
These meetings are designed to be focused, intentional, and athlete-driven. They are not casual check-ins. The expectation is that athletes come prepared with their goals clearly thought through before we meet. Our time together will be used to sharpen, challenge, and align those goals with training.
If you’re interested in scheduling a meeting, you’ll first need to complete the Goal-Setting Prep Form linked below. This prep work is a required part of the process and is where the majority of the goal-setting happens.
Goal-Setting Prep Form:
Once the form is completed, we’ll follow up to schedule your meeting.
Why this format?
Short, focused meetings work best when athletes take ownership of their goals. The preparation matters more than the conversation itself. This process is meant to help you clarify what you want, why it matters, and how you plan to get there.
If this format isn’t the right fit for you right now, that’s completely okay. There will be other opportunities to talk training and development throughout the season.
Colorado United Invitational 2026- Sunday, January 11th
There is a high school indoor track meet being held at CU Boulder this Sunday, January 11th. This is the first time ever that CU Boulder has hosted high schoolers at a meet and is being put on by a couple of my friends in the coaching community. I wanted to put this on everyone’s radar in case you wanted to participate. If you compete, I would view it as only an indicator of your current fitness and since we’ve just been steadily building back mileage, I wouldn’t expect earth shattering performances but it might be good to knock some of the racing dust off.
Here’s the link for info and to sign up: https://co.milesplit.com/meets/721407-colorado-united-invitational-2026/info
Should a few of you decide to compete, I’ll plan on driving up there on Sunday morning :)
