Week of February 2nd

Happy Sunday! We’re at the midway point of pre-season training and this week represents a good chance for us to see where we’re at by competing for the first time (for most of us) since November! You all have been putting in the work in what my boss calls the “armpit of the year.” During these winter doldrums, keep lifting each others’ spirits and reminding yourself that all the hard work will pay off when the sun is shining a little hotter (hopefully) this spring!

If you haven’t already, check the Legend XC and Track website and note important dates for the upcoming track season, especially over spring break. And be sure to check the info in the blog last week on Ferritin testing as this is a great time of year to check and make sure you’re doing what you need to do nutritionally in order to perform at your best level!

Practice times, information for this week and announcements are below!

Announcements

Workout Thursday- Speed Sesh

Track season means our training is going to look a little bit different. We’ll be incorporating more speed and speed development as it’s necessary for performance on the track. Please bring your racing flats or Vaperflys to this Tuesday’s practice! (No spikes this week)

Upcoming Racing Opportunities!- THIS SATURDAY

There are a couple awesome racing opportunities coming up in Colorado and we encourage all of our athletes to get some racing in this winter! Coach Hines and Acosta are planning to be at both Colorado Classic Pre-Season Meets hosted by Heritage HS in Littleton. We’ve got a couple of weeks before these opportunities but wanted to put it on everyone’s radar. If you’ve been training with us this winter and are in town for these meets, we expect you to participate as it’s a good gage of current fitness and a chance to break up the monotony of winter training!

Info below!

Colorado Classic Pre-Season Meets

This is an outdoor meet but on an abbreviated schedule. Every year there is great competition for these meets from the South Metro area. We’d like to see most of you in the 800m or Mile this weekend. Please talk to a coach about which race(s) you should sign up for!

You can sign up for the first one on 2/7 HERE

ENTRIES ARE DUE BY FRIDAY AT MIDNIGHT BUT DON’T WAIT!

The second iteration will be on 2/21 and runs a similar schedule.
